The Southern States Mission (1867-1971) provided religious instruction for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and parts of Ohio.

Thomas Ephraim Harper served as a missionary for the Mormon Church in the Southern States Mission (1884-1887) working largely in Virginia and West Virginia Harper gives a detailed account of his missionary experiences, including run-ins with anti-Mormon mobs.
