Comments on his ancestry; early life in Cabarton, Cascade, and elsewhere in Idaho; service in the U.S. Navy during the 1940s; conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), 1949; work in the Department of Sociology and School of Social Work at BYU; and professional and religious experiences, including in Guatemala, Peru, Spain, and Venezuela.
James William Denver letter
Handwritten letter to Isaac Toucey, Secretary of the Navy, recommending A.C. Bradford for the post of "navy agent" in San Francisco.

Collection of military papers and equipment used to train naval airforce cadets in navigation techniques. The papers were published between 1939-1942 and later annotated by Sheldon P. Hayes. His reasons for collecting and annotating the materials are unknown.
History of the Mine Force United States Atalantic Fleet 1917-1918
Typewritten and signed book draft. Davis writes about the anti-mine force of the United States in the Atlantic Ocean during World War I.
Milton Kurzrok letter
Handwritten letter dated 31 Aug. 1945 and addressed to Manuel W. Goodman of Brooklyn, N.Y. The second leaf of the letter is missing, so the item is not signed. Kurzrok writes about playing tennis and meeting Lt. Gen. James Doolittle. Kurzrok was impressed with Doolittle and called him a "very regular guy." Also included is the envelope in which the letter was sent.

Franklin D. Roosevelt letters
Two typed and signed letters written at the Navy Department in Washington in 1918. The first is dated April 29 and is addressed to Mr. Fred G. Walsen, and the other is dated May 9 and is addressed to Mrs. C. W. Wildey. The body of both letters is identical and expresses appreciation for heeding the Navy's call for binoculars, telescopes, and spy glasses.
