The organization provided Sunday religious instruction in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as well as support services such as curriculum development, teacher training, and library services. The Deseret Sunday School Union was renamed the Sunday School during a reorganization of Church auxiliaries in 1971.
